Equinox stretched, his long talons gleaming in the gloomy half light of the Abyss.
ReplyDelete"its BORING down here." he complained, his toothy grin showing, even though he wasnt grinning. Or trying to, rather.
"hey Droogs! let's head down to the old Cove and see who we might feast on tonight!" he yelled to the other demons condemned to a life of boredom in the Abyss.
Rose saw the crows fly above her head.
ReplyDeleteShe stared and them and started to walk in the direction they were going in.
"whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa!! whoa!! WHOA! no, Rose, my dear, we're heading THIS way." Equinox called, dissipating in a cloud of night black smoke and reappearing in front of her. He walked around her legs, his head coming at her shoulder in height.
ReplyDelete"we're headin to the Cove to scare the crap outta the worms there. Especially old Fate over there." he added, grinning his toothy grin.
Rose shuttered at the sight of Equinox.
ReplyDeleteShe memorized where the crows were going and followed him.
"Why are we going there?" she asked.
"why are we going there?" he mimicked in her voice, then in his own booming voice, he said, "because theres nothin else to do. Unless you would prefer to follow those jackals to who knows where." referring to the crows.
ReplyDeleteHe laughed, and curled around his barbed tail around Roses shoulders as he reared, reaching his full height of roughly 7-8 foot tall.
"guess whats coming soon." he rumbled, his blank white eyes gleaming in the pre-dusk half light.
Rose rolled her eyes.
ReplyDelete"What? What could possibly be more important then the crows??" she broke away and Equinox moved in front of her, his eyes gleaming.
"This." he laughed and howled, not like a wolf, but more of a mournful and psychotic sound. Several others responded with howls of laughter as they dissipated into clouds of smoke and popped up in random places, all over the whole of where they all lived along The Thin Red Line.
ReplyDelete"Let the scares negin, Rose." he said lowly, his white eyes seeming like burning white coals in the pit of the Ram's skull he wears.
Rose crossed her arms.
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't into the scaring stuff. She was beautiful and really wasn't good at scaring.
"What ever makes you stop talking to me!" she said and disappeared into a black cloud.
"ouch." he growled, but wasnt offended at all. he knew Rose. she didnt fit in well among the others, but, nowhere else would take her becuz of her other half.
ReplyDelete"come back later to see me, Sweetheart!" he called to the air, saying "sweetheart" in a light and mocking tone. He laughed and loped off into the trees, ready to scare the life out of anything that crossed his path.
'Sweetheart???'
ReplyDeleteEquinox always called her weird names.
She appeared on a stump and sat there.
Then the most amazing thing happened.
A crow flutter right up to her.
Rose cautiously held out her hand and it jumpped right on her finger.
"Maybe it is just a myth in my head," she murmured to herself. "Because I will never find love here."
Equinox creeped up on an unsuspecting Fatality and grinned before leaping out and stopping him dead in his tracks.
ReplyDeleteFatality literally leaped back 5 feet with a squeak.
He growled. "why in the-" he started, only to get interupted.
"ah ah ah," Equinox started, rearing and walking over to the confused ex-demon.
"you should know better than anyone, Archoven, what time of year this is." he snarled, using the Demon's term Archoven, meaning leader.
Fatality shook his massive black head. "No, Im not being dragged back in that nasty you-know-what, Farven!" He declared stubbornly, using Farven, meaning next in command.
Equinox snarled, his white eyes burning. "then die when the crow flies." he said lowly, bringing a feeling of dread over everyone whos come into contact with him. Fatality's eyes widened and his heart skipped a beat and began beating rapidly, he was so terrified.
"do u realize what you have just done?!" he shrieked.
"Im not called Archoven for nothing, Shank." he sneered, walking away, his barbed tail swinging behind him.
(waaaait...... fergot somethin. lol)
ReplyDeleteEquinox walked along until he found another one of his droogs.
"hey, go find Rose and tell her she's needed at the Cove." he snarled, whipping his tail behind him.
The demon nodded and dissipated to where Rose sat with the crows.
The black mist of a demon scared away the crow.
ReplyDelete"Oh," she said disappointed.
"Your needed," he murmured.
She rolled her eyse and went into a cloud of black mist as well.
Equinox paced back and forth, his tail cutting down anything in its way, even one of his own demons.
ReplyDeleteEquinox looked at the black ash that used to be his droog and grunted. "my bad." he said, going back to pacing.
She appearted in the cove and hardly missed being hit with Equinox's tail.
ReplyDelete"What do you need Archoven?" Rose asked.
"what do I need? I dont NEED anything. Except for one teensy, tiny thing." he said, reeling around and sitting across from her.
ReplyDelete"a Farven. Fates dead. I killed him. not much different from what i did to ol' Shank-faceover there." he said, gesturing to the heavy ashes.
"So, since all my other Droogs are Shanks, i've selected you for the job." he grinned, his blank eyes staring unblinkingly at Rose to see her reaction.
Rose kept her face striaght.
ReplyDeleteShe then smiled and started to talk to her leader as if he was a 2 year old.
"My backround is not tolerable. They will never aceppt me." she scrached her arm. "Plus, why me?"
Equinox was either unsurprised, or he hid his emotions well. Most likely the latter.
ReplyDelete"Do you really need an explanation? plus, they will accept you because i will make them accept you. besides, its just for looks. Its not like im going to die and fall into a pile of shank ashes like Shank-face over there." he scoffed, flicking his tail at the pile of ashes.
She bowed.
ReplyDelete"I will take the place, if you are sure."
"of course im sure. when have I ever not been sure?" he snarled, sitting down.
ReplyDelete"now go have fun, or something. Do something that wont make the others want to kill you because im only to get you out of a mess once." he said, waving his tail behind him.
"There's nothing to do here," she complained.
ReplyDeleteBut he let Rose go with the wave of his hand/paw/claw thingy magiger.
There was a cry and Equinox's massive head whipped around to come face to face with a Screech.
ReplyDeleteEquinox growled and lashed his tail and it came into contact with the Screech's own tail.
"Rose. I suggest you make a break for the entrance because I will not lay my miserable little life down for you for long." he growled, his ghostly white eyes meeting with the Screech's empty sockets. With a horrible grating cry that caused even the bravest creature's blood to curdle Equinox lashed his 5 inch talons across the Screech's face, tearing through its empty skull.
Without pausing Equinox whipped his tail around and slammed it into the Screech's long legs. Before it could even think of recovering he was gone, the red barb on his tail disappearing into the black Abyss he called home.
